"The Big smoke!" Reykjavík Region by littlebush

Reykjavik is more a big town than a capital city, but once youve seen the rest of Iceland, arriving back in Reykjavik, it certainly is 'the big smoke'!
Home to 180,000 people, and 2/3 of the countries population, its where most stuff goes on. It sits in the west of the country and it seems to rain a lot(of 11 days in Iceland, I say no rain, only in my 24 hours in Reykjavik!).
Its small enough to navigate on foot, and the buildings are quite interesting, and you wont find one higher than about 4 stories! The surrounding scenery is quite stunning, with the mountains in the background. Highlights would be the geothermal beach, the church, the saga museum, the nightlife.
It is expensive, and you could easily spend over £100 on a night on the lash! but the locals party hard on Friday and Saturday, so best not to miss out.
Theres plenty of places to stay, but best book ahead in season.
I foudn it an interesting city, but personally i prefer scenery and the rest of iceland was too beautiful to spend too much time in the capital!
