I had always grown up and lived near London, in Hertforshire, so i had always spent a lot of my time going into London out with friends but it wasnt until 2009 that i actually moved into London and really discovered just how great a city it really is. There is a real vibe around London now and with various upgrades being done in time for the 2012 olympics, now is the time to visit this truly great city.
London can be very expensive, although at the time of writing, the GBP is so weak that this probably isnt the case to most nationals any more.
You can live cheap if you stay in hostels and cook your own food. Attractions can be over priced but some thinngs are reasonable and its great that all museums are free! Drinking beer and eating out will eat into your budget the most.
The nightlife in London is fantastic, and since the drinking laws were relaxed several years ago, the days of pubs closing at 11pm are now gone and you can always find somewhere to drink until the early hours, and with buses running all night, you can easily get home.
The big attraction is the history and so many old building or famous sights to see - something that a born Brit may take for granted, but ive realised recently just how much there is to see. But also modern wonders such as the London eye, Tate Modern or the O2.
I would say you need a good 2 weeks to see all of the most popular sights and to truly appreciate London, but in reality to really experience it you need to live here.
I'm a couch surfer is anyone else is so have a free sofa bed if anyone interested

wonderful pictures,my favorite is "big ben" everything is so brownish grey and cloudy rainy but so historical,has spirit!
