Zanzibar, just the name conjures up images of white sandy beaches and turquoise waters. Well, it is like that in parts of the island but its also Stone Town which gives the island its character. Stone Town is like Venice without the water, narrow winding streets that seen to lead to no where! The Arabic influence on the island is apparent as soon as you arrive, its like the Asia meets Africa. I spent 4 nights here on my trip, 2 in Stone Town and 2 up in the beautiful northern beaches at Nungwi. I hired out a motorbike with friends and toured around the whole island and concluded that it really is a paradise island. |
