One of the oldest human settlements still inhabited. this ancient city by the sea makes a great day trip from Beirut. just about a 40 min mini bus ride from the city. just go to cola station and ask around for Tripoli or listen for someone yelling it they are good at advertising where they are going, and tell the driver that want off at jbal(the locals will probably be more helpfully then the driver so make sure they hear).

Southern Lebanon is a jewel. gorgeous place to spend a winter. and with a wealth of ancient ruins its a must see. the town of Tyre alone boasts the worlds largest Roman hippodrome and ruins from phonetician to byzantine eras encircle the city. A town that appears in the bible has gotta have some history right? and its perfectly safe unless Israel invades again. To get here take the mini bus to Sidon and transfer to onto sour is what they will be calling it. mini buss leave throughout the day as soon as they fill up, and expect to be crowded cause they pick people up along the way to.

Absolutely one of the most amazing ancient sites i have ever see. Its a wonder of the world in my book. cant describe it ignore who ever says its dangerous and go(Lebanon is safe). to get there leave cola station to Zahle and transfer to balbeek, the ride through the mountains alone is worth the trip.
