Alicante (Valencia commune) is situated on the southern coast, not far from Valencia. The end of September or beginning of October is a good time to come. Its pretty warm but not hot.
It was warm (26degrees) at the end of September. The beaches are nice and there is Playa de Postiguet, just in front of the old town, where many hotels can be found.
Behind the famous Explanada de Espana along the the port, there are several smaller streets like this. They are beautiful and one can find some interesting shops, restaurants and cafes.
