Chamonix-Mont-Blanc

"Look! That's Mont Blanc!!"

Chamonix is one and a half hour bus ride from Geneva. You can come by TGV from Paris to St. Gervais and change train. The town is relatively small but there are so many tourists in summer and winter as the city is surrounded by beautiful mountains - it is ideal for hiking and climbing. In winter, there are many skiers (I am one of them) who come here because they have several nice long ski slopes.

Lively resort

The town in a valley surrounded by mountains on all sides. One does not feel confined in the corner as the mountains are embracing this town beautifully. I once met a Japanese man who came here in his 20s as a mountain climber but decided to stay in Chamonix permanently because he was so enchanted by the beautiful mountains. He is now married to a local woman and work in this town. That is a good evidence to show how pleasant and wonderful to live in the area of Chamonix.

Mont Blanc

Mont Blanc is the highest mountain in Europe (4807m)
The peak (second back) is rather smooth. The peak is often invisible covered by clouds. When the sky is clear, you can see it vividly from Geneva. I liked to see this mountain towering against the setting sun from my apartment near Geneva.
