Hosteria Las Ruinas de Quinaras - VILCABAMBA: a little bit of everything

The hostel is about 10 minutes walk from the central square of Vilcabamba, to the west, on Diego Vaca de la Vega. After passing the river you will see it on your right hand. It is built in a lush tropical garden that looks more like a small forest. There are a great deal of activities in the premises, plus a lively bar staying up very late for those who wish to hit some drinks and befriend with other travellers. Many locals also come to spend the weekend here. There is a swimming pool, a spa center , a jacuzzi, a turkish bath,horse trips, hot showers, free internet, a TV room, thousands of dvd titles of films, volleyball court, table tennis, pool table, bikes for rent, CD burning ,Spanish lessons, book exchange, safety boxes, tourist information desk, bikes, basketball, volleyball, soccer, an attractive open air restaurant serving tasty food, and one or two meals included in the price. But..noise stops at 3.00 in the morning and starts at 7.00...! For me it was much too noisy and made me run away the next morning after visiting the higher top terrace for a 360 degree view of the surrounding landscape.

Hostal Villa Colombia-PUERTO LOPEZ: in a peaceful garden !

In Puerto Lopez I stayed in a super friendly hostel , Hostal Villa Colombia. The lady who runs the place, Mrs Gladys, is so nice and her son, Galo, so spontaneous and helpful that I immediately felt great. The hotel is really quiet and the rooms are built around a beautiful garden. There are hammocks and a large open air common space. The kitchen is available and a nice breakfast is included in the price and is served in the garden.The last day they told me I could, of course, stay until very late as the bus for Quito was leaving very late. You can trust them and book your tours with them.
There are rooms for 2 or 4 persons with private bathroom and hot water. and breakfast included. Parking space, Internet service and laundry service. I paid, myself, 8$ in a spacious room with private bathroom. It is 16$ for 2 persons, I think. Telefax :(5)2 300189

Le Rendez Vous-VILCABAMBA: Harmony between comfort and nature!

If you need to have peace of mind and hammock your body in a wonderful garden go to Le Rendez Vous. It is so serene and rejuvenating that you will not want to go away. In the evenings there is usually a bonfire in the middle of the garden that makes the star watching even more romantic! It's just a 3minute walk from the central square. The garden has local plants as aloe Vera, Hibiscus, banana trees, exotic flowers, sugar canes and a lot more!
Juan (or Jean) is French and is an efficient and helpful host who makes your life easy. The rooms are really clean and decorated with a simple but very elegant taste. Swaying in the hammocks you can have nice views of the beautiful mountains all around. Excellent breakfast made from natural ingredients is served by the friendly staff at the table in front of your room, and is absolutely free. Cheap drinks and snacks are available all day. Even the fruit juice is prepared with mineral water.You can refill your bottles with water for only 10cents. Other facilities include laundry service, free hand washing in the specially designed laundry space, internet connection for your laptop ( 3,5$/day), and rental of movies in your room.
Prices are 12$ for singles, 20$ for a double room, 27$ for a triple, 32 for a family room of 4 persons..( the cursor in the site is fun...!)
