Hostel Marlin: cheap and quiet...

This hostel is located in Getsemani which is also part of the historic area of Cartagena, just five minutes from the beach. It is quiet and the staff is very helpful. Its location is very convenient as there are shops and restaurants for your needs. The Old City is just 10 minutes away on foot.
There is free Internet service, TV Cable in all rooms, Laundry Service, Safety Boxes, kitchen available, and tourist info about Volcan de Totumo, Islas de Rosario and Playa Blanca and boats to Panama. The rooms are cleaned every day and they are a good choice for low budgets.
They have private bathrooms and cable TV. They cost 15$ for 2persons with fan and 20$ for 2 with aircondition. If you are single you take it for 10$ but it is usually a windowless room.
The best is the precious little balcony with lots of flower and a fine breeze all day. You can leave your room at three as in most hotels in Colombia!

Hostal Casa Viena: recommended

Casa Viena is a very popular and well organised hostel. It is located in a quiet street in Getsemani. I tried to stay but it was booked up. But I frequently went there to ask for information or even borrow a book from its library...! The travelers staying there told me they were very satisfied so I decided to mention it here. Its location is good because it's near food shops and restaurants, near the sea and at a walking distance from the Walled City.
It is a safe and clean family run hostel. Everything is free for the guests..free Internet, free coffee, free book exchange, free local calls, cooking facilities, safety boxes, washing machine and a lot of information!
The owner has been a traveler, too, so he knows what we need and what we like. And he has taught the staff well...they are very helpful and knowledgeable.
Prices are 7$ for the dormitory and from 15$-20$ depending on the type of room.
