time and distances

If you are a strong and experienced trekker you can stay for a week or even two. You can carry your own tent (or rent one) and food and stay in the camping sites . There are about 15 of them scattered all around the whole area. If you cannot carry anything you can also stay in the camps and eat at the restaurants. You will need a good sleeping bag because sometimes there are no bedclothes at the hotels . At least at Refugio Pehoe. But you can still rent one there, if you like.

Many prefer to do the whole circuit in 5 nights-6 days, which is possible if you are in a good shape. (You can also do it in 4 nights-5 days if you are prepared to walk for 8-10 hours every day.) That is, start at Hosteria Las Torres or Hotel Las Torres, store your things at the Hotel , climb up to enjoy the view of the Torres, come down and sleep. It takes 4-5,5 hours to go up. Next morning walk for 6,5 hours and sleep at the Italian Campamento. Third day you walk up to the British Camp to enjoy the view of the Valle Frances (French Valley) and the lakes. You don't have to go all the way up because you can start enjoying the view after you have walked for only one hour. Then you can make it to Hotel Pehoe because the rest of the path is a very easy one of 2,5 hours ,easily made in 2 h keeping a steady lively pace. On the fourth day you start towards Glacier Grey . The view is wonderful . Sleep at Refugio Los Perros. Fifth day walk as far as Camping Seron which takes 10,5 hours. And on the sixth day you cover the 4-4,5hour-walk to the exit and take a bus to Puerto Natales. Offcourse you can do it the other way arround or you can change your plan to suit you . This is only a suggestion.

Most of the travellers are satisfied after they have completed the "W" as it's usually mentioned .That is the imaginary W that is formed by points O,N,F,D,E,C,B,S,R,X. This is about 50km . You can do it in 4-5 days. You can take a local bus to reach the entrance or book a bus to pick you up at your hotel and take you there . You can make it in 3 nights-4 days ,too, but you'd better take your time. So first day you store your things at Hosteria Las Torres, go up to see the Torres, come down after 8,5-10 hours since you would like to stay and enjoy the view for a while. Sleep at the hotel and on the second day go to The Italian Camp, which is 7 hours. On the third day, walk up to the British camp (2,5 hours) and then come down and reach Hotel Pehoe which is an easy 2,5 hours . There will be some free Pisco sours waiting for you if you stay at the hotel or you can buy it and drink it in the open air ,which is really enjoyable. On the third day you can walk up to the Grey Glacier ,that is 3 hours ,or to the hotel Grey about 3,5 hours and come back. Then you relax and take the boat the next morning....or stay there for ...ever ..!! At the hotels there are refreshments ,drinks and a lot of .. junk food ... oh,sorry ... munchies.

Now for the people who like walking in the nature but are not such keen trekkers or simply don't feel like walking too hard, there is still a solution . You can book at Hotel Pehoe for all three nights . On the first day the bus picks you up at your hotel and takes you to the the Park after you have stopped at 2 places of interest, as the big Milodon etc.. Then it goes all along Nordenskjold Lake ,stopping a few times to stretch your legs, and take some pictures of the unique Torres which change colours several times during the day depending on the light. At lunch time they take you to Hosteria Lago Grey . The food is ok. Then you take a short walk along Grey river. Then they can drop you at a point where you can take the boat to Hotel Pehoe. If you come back the same way, buy a return ticket. It's cheaper. You relax at the hotel or in your tent . The scenery is wonderful. Next day you climb as far as Glacier Grey stopping on the way to enjoy amazing views, or relax resting on the flat rocks that neighbor the lake. If you have paid for the meals ,too, they will prepare a poor but ..honest packet for you to take it along. Second day you go as far as the Italian camp, try higher a little bit one or 2 hours and then go back to the hotel. This will take you from 6 to 10 hours if you reach The British camp. On the third day you can leave by boat early and catch the bus to Puerto Natales. Of course all hotels in Puerto Natales can store your big bags.
