Back from my first VT meet in Portugal

by marielexoteria - last update: Jun 19, 2009

A nice picture of me
Thanks to all of you who made this VT a great event for me, a newbie when it comes to VT meets :) Looking forward to see you some other time.

The main picture on my homepage is one of the few where I actually look normal (lol) and it was taken while in Cascais by the one and only, Mr. jonkb.

Now, who is marielexoteria?

I was born and raised in the Caribbean and I'm now living in Sweden. Most of my traveling as of 2003 was only within my country. I've visited more cities and small towns than the ones listed but that was when I was a child and all I did was play and probably go to the local market and bathe in rivers. After 2003, I started exploring Europe and Canada.

When I'm not traveling I like reading, watching TV, dancing (although I don't do it that often) and listening to music, being 70's and 80's disco my favorite genre. I like collecting Hard Rock Café t-shirts and maps/brochures of the places I've been to.

Mr. Sweden

This is Mr. Sweden in front of Mont Blanc when he was visiting some friends in Grenoble, France. Isn't he a cutie? :D
Fanta in her balcony

Fanta

Our cat Fanta has been a member of our family since July 2008. She's a 5-year old light red tabby cutie with freckles on her nose, paws and lips. Recently she got her own outdoor place to be at, when Mr. Sweden fenced the balcony and even built a shelf for her, so now she can go out as she pleases without me worrying that she will jump out to follow a bee or something (and she's been about to do so twice!). Plus she can look down at her peasants ;)

The latest news about Miss Fanta is that she got a boyfriend ;) My mom got a cat and my sister said that he's her bf lol.
Fresh news straight from the source :D

Coming up, recent updates and/or newest pages

Upcoming trips:

- August: Madrid and Gothemburg for the MADONNA concert!

The photos on these humble pages...
...are taken by me unless otherwise specified so ask me if you want to use them for private purposes.

Fellow VT'ers: I do my best to post tips that are accurate, informative and entertaining so if you see that I've made a mistake on one of the tips, please let me know so. Thanks in advance.
Fred's art in Samaná

Help me to help a VT friend!

The closest from a real life friend is of course VT friends, and this VT friend I want you (yes, you who are reading this!) to help is Fred. Fred has a disease called ALS. He doesn't want money sent to a charity or research organization, he just wants your time, kindness and help with his project, which is to have his art travel the whole world as he's not able to. All you have to do is photograph his art in your country.

This is taken from Fred's page, about ALS: "ALS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease in the United States and elsewhere in the world as MND motor neuron disease, is characterized by the rapid, progressive death of motor neurons, nerve cells that feed all the voluntary muscles in the body, including muscles used for breathing. As these motor neurons die, the muscles, lacking nourishment, atrophy, resulting in paralysis of all voluntary muscle. In about 90 percent of cases of ALS, there is no family history. Ninety percent of ALS patients die within three to five years from the date they are diagnosed. The cause of ALS is unknown. There is no cure. There is no effective treatment. ALS occurs throughout the world at about the same rate of roughly one in 100,000."

Last not but least: Public thanks

This is a public acknowledge to all those VT'ers who have helped me with my (sometimes maybe dumb) questions., as well as those that have met us and taken us on a sightseeing tour in their cities There are too many of you to mention so, from the bottom of my heart:

THANK YOU
