Interlaken is a bit of a "resort town" set in a valley between two lakes. It's in a really beautiful area and is on the hub of the railway network, so it's easy to get out and about to other places such as Wengen, Grindelwald, Thun, Brienze, Murren and even Lucerne or Berne.
It might not be to everyones liking - it lackes that "ski-village" feel because it's not up in the mountains, but it's a lively place with a lot of good eating places and a lot of hotels in every price bracket.

Wanna see my mountains again...luckily it's Zuerich in August.....not to compare with the Bernese Alps ok, but fair enough!
You've been a visitor to my favorite spot. Interlaken. Nice tips on the restaurants.
Although very beautiful it is probably my least favorite I visited in Switzerland. But being my least favorite does not make it bad. Everything in Switzerland was exceptional. I really like the pictures in your travelogue.
