Mgarr

by steventilly - last update: Jul 12, 2004

Mgarr is the ferry port of Gozo. It's about 20 minutes crossing from the port of Cirkewwa on Malta to Mgarr, passing by the island of Comino as you go.
Mgarr is a small town, clustered around the harbour and the surrounding hillside. The road connections from there to the rest of the island are pretty good, in fact you can get from there to Dwejra, the most easterly point, in about 20 minutes, and to Victoria/Rabat (the capital) in abaout 10.
There are some really top class hotels in Mgarr (on the hills looking down onto the harbour) and a handful of decent restaurants and bars (on the street leading down to the harbour).

This looks like a nice place to stay, especially in that hotel. What a great view.
