A Charming And Very Historic City Valletta is the capital of Malta, a city of narrow, steep streets surrounded on three sides by water and massive fortifications. Inside the city is a host of beautiful historical buildings and old townhouses with their famous balconies. The public gardens of Valletta give great views from their elevated position - the views across the Grand Harbour to The Three Cities is especially worth seeing. The whole of Valletta is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and rightly so in my opinion. It's the kind of place you can go back to again and again and find something new every time. It's worth noting that if you go on Sunday then many things may be closed, but also the whole place may be a lot more quiet, which may suit you. Also, if you want to go shopping, go before lunch time if you can. |
| | "Guided Walk" As is usual for me these days, the pages will take the form of a "guided walk" in the "Must See" section, taking you roughly the way that we saw the city. |

Wonderful pictures and very helpful tips about the lovely Valletta. It's always a pleasure to go back, even if sometimes is only virtually. | uglyscot Tue Jun 7, 2005 09:17 UTC Most interesting. I've been tempted to use Maltese airlines for a trip to Uk, and have a stop over- after seeing your site, i'm almost convinced. |
