Marsaxlokk sits at the sort of bottom-right hand corner of Malta, and as we were staying at pretty much the top-left corner this was the longest trip we made while on Malta. It was worth the journey though, and lived up to everything that we expected of it. The colourful Luzzo boats in the harbour against a backdrop of blues skies, blue sea and shabbily attractive harbourfront buildings was a sight not to be missed.

There's not exactly a lot to do at Marsaxlokk, so probably two hours will be enough for your visit. To just give it one hour is to do it an injustice and you will be hurrying your visit - this is a place to take at liesure, and take the time to enjoy a drink (or even a meal) at one of the harbourside cafes.

Apparently evening, approaching sunset, is a really good time to be in Marsaxlokk, especially for a meal. We didn't have that luxury - we were travelling by bus and the busses don't run that late. I can imagine that the special ambience this place has does get even better at that time of the day.
