Great For Windsurfing! | Windsurfers Offshore At Ixia |
Ixia is a large purpose built resort along the coast from Rhodes town. As such it's not everyone's cup of tea, certainly not somewhere I'd stay, though my sister & parents quite like it. Amongst other things, they say that the hotels are better value for money and the food there is better and cheaper than in Rhodes Town. Maybe they ate in the wrong places. Whatever, we decided to walk down to there one day, and a very nice walk it was. It was quite exposed though, no shade along the whole of the walk, and by the time we got back I was a little burned. The beaches at Ixia were small and pebbly, but the sea was lovely and there were some OK tavernas at the back of the beaches. Being the east coast it was quite windy and windsurfers were out in large numbers, which made for a very colourful sight. |

gilabrand Mon May 28, 2007 07:09 UTC Just got back from Rhodes and had the foresight to turn down the offer of a hotel in Ixia and take a room in town. 2 hours each way is a bit much... | budapest8 Wed Nov 2, 2005 22:08 UTC You have great tips+ pics as usual.I was in Rhodos back in 1979 and spent a lovely 2 weeks camping on the beaches enroute overland from Israel to London.
