Cafe, Peasholm Park: Listen To The Bands

The old fashioned looking cafe by Peasholm lake is a nice place to sit in the sun and listen to the bands playing. The bands play in a little shelter in the lake (I preume they get to it by boat!?) and it's always "music for old folks". Still, it's pleasant enough for a few minutes.

Rennard's: More Fish & Chips

An Scarborough "establishment", up in the main town and with a "fish & chip restaurant" alongside its take away.
That "Itis Itis" next door looked interesting too, but more as a nightlife place than a cafe.

Favorite Dish: Chips, Chips & Peas, Chip buttie...

Typical "local" cafe - selling burgers, fish & chips, other snacks, coffees and cakes.

Favorite Dish: We had the "special" - cappuccino with a chocolate muffin.

Seafood Stalls: Don't Miss The Fresh Seafood!

There are seafood stalls in a variety of places but mainly beside the harbour. When I was a kid I used to love this stuff (I wan't a veggie then) and used to get a pot of cockles or mussels or sometimes a bag of winkles to eat later on the beach (with added sand of course).

Favorite Dish: Long, long ago it was Cockles, Mussels, Winkles, Crab's Legs...
I can't even look at this stuff anymore :-S

Chip Shops (All Over Town): I Wanna Have Chips On The Beach...

This is the seaside, so you have to have chips (or fish & chips). Especially as this part of the country is reknowned for its quality fish (well, more Whitby than Scarborough, but the Scarborough fish is good too).
Tradition is that you eat them on the beach and get a bit of sand into them (its hard to avoid anyway). The gritty crunch of the sand just adds to the taste and the experience. At least that's how it seemed as a kid ;-)

Favorite Dish: Chips, chip butty, chips & peas... this sort of thing.
