(Under Construction) | "Weebles" At South Shields |
South Shields is in Tyne & Wear at the mouth of the river Tyne. It's a town with a lot of history, tracing back to Roman times, through the industrial revolution when it became a major shipbuilding centre and port, it's life as seaside resort to the present day as the principal town of South Tyneside. It still retains traces of all aspects of its past, which make it a quite interesting day-trip destination. Its beaches are still some of the best to be found in the North of England and as such people still come here from as far away as Scandinavia for holidays. The National Trust owns most of the land on the seashoe south from South Shields and this is a lovely area for a coastal walk, passing such things as Marsden Rock and eventually ending up on the outskirts of Sunderland. |
