Beautiful Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is located just west of the Carson Valley, separated by the Sierra Nevada mountain range. If you take hiway 50 from Carson City you will arrive near the midpoint of the lake. If you go south, you will go to State Line with all of the famous casinos and the Heavenly Valley Ski area. If you go north you will go to the Incline Village ski area. I went south.The road runs along the side of th lake and I was able to get several great photos.

The lake is huge...it holds 39 trillion gallons of water, enough to cover the entire state of California to a depth of 14 inches. Speaking of depth, this lake is the 3rd deepest in North America....1600 feet in most places away from the shore. 63 streams feed into the lake but there is only one outlet...the Truckee River, one of the few in the world in which the waters never reach the ocean.

Directions: West of the Carson Valley and bordered on the west by California and the east by Nevada
