Uppsala, home of the majestic Uppsala Domkyrka(cathedral) is located north of Stockholm and can be reached by plane, train or automobile. We elected to travel by train and the trip was about an hour. Uppsala is the 4th largest city in Sweden and is the home of the Uppsala University, founded in 1477 by Archbishop Jakob Ulfsson. Besides the incredible cathedral and university, one can tour a famous old castle or the gardens and former home of world reknown scientist, Carolus Linnaeus, father of the scientific naming system for plants and animals that is still used to this day. A river runs through this beautiful city and the whole place looks like a giant park.

”A giant park”, what a compliment to Uppsala!!I like your page-just a few tips: the Linnaeus garden pic shows actually the botanical garden (no big deal) and also you are right about the admission free church. Churches NEVER charge you to enter in Sweden.

Such a pretty city, Ken. I love old cathedrals. This one is beautiful!
