Is a famous arch in Paris located at the end of the Champs d'Elysees and is memory of the Napoleonic wars. One can go right under it as traffic passes through it while one can also walk up to the top and look from it. Inside there is a tomb of the unknown soldier commemorating the Napoleonic wars. Unfortunately I didn't get to go up it although I did see it.

Named in honour of former French president Georges Pompidou the centre Georges Pompidou houses a large library and the Musee National de l'arte Moderne. Despite being over 30 years old, the building will look like it is still under construction from the outside. I have seen the outside, but have not been inside.

Long known for being one the best places for shopping, the Champs Elysees is a long wide avenue in Paris with the Arc de Triomphe at the end. There are many fashion stores here as well as many outdoor cafes. It has many theatres and anyone interested in shopping, fashion, or culture. It has often be compared to New York's fifth avenue and this description is pretty accurate. However, it is very expensive so do be prepared to pay a lot, so if you cannot afford or don't want to spend huge amounts, it is still worth going to look around.

Paris is known for its fine dining although it is pricy so since on my second trip I was with my school, I unfortunately didn't get to experience the fine dining Paris has to offer. The first time I went, I eat at a bistro which has some of the best Frites (French fries) as well as poulet (chicken) and escargot. France is also famous for its wine which in fact is cheaper than beer and coke. If you want to avoid the high prices, eat out in the non-tourist areas as prices tend to be considerably higher in the touristy sections of the city.

A symbol of Paris, it is definitely what one wants to visit. It was built by Gustave Eiffel in 1889 and at the time was the tallest free standing structure, being substantially taller than any other structure and held this title until 1930 when the Chrysler Building was completed in New York. It was originally built for the World Fair and only meant to be a temporary structure, but instead has remained a symbol of Paris until this day. From the top one can get excellent views of the city. One can also walk part way up the tower.

The River Seine runs right through the middle of the city and divides it between the left bank and right bank. Taking a boat ride down the Seine is a great way to see the city and all its sights. Tours are available in all major languages.

The Louvre is the most visited museum in the world and houses many famous paintings and sculptures. It is probably best known for the Mona Lisa, which I saw when I was there. It should be noted that photography is prohibited so if you want a picture of the Mona Lisa painting, you will have to look elsewhere. It contains famous paintings and scultures all the way from the 13th century right up until the late 1800s.

A famous district with many restaurants and cafes. It is also the highest natural point in Paris so has great views overlooking the city. At the top is the Sacre Coeur, which is one of the largest basillicas in Paris, which is the most common area to visit when going to Montmatre.

A former railway station known as Gare d'Orsay, it is now become a place for art from 1848 to 1914 and is mainly known for its impressionist collections. It still resembles a train station, but was shut down as a train station in the 70s and then converted into an art museum.

One of the oldest structures in Paris, it is a fine example of a gothic style cathedral. Construction began all the way back in 1163 and was completed in 1345 and its is located at the centre of the city on Ile de la Cite. When visiting there one will be amazed at the amount of work and difficulty put into building the cathedral, especially considering that they had far less in technology than they do today.
