"Ancient Capital City" Kyoto by KJ31

For 11 centuries Kyoto was the Imperial Capital of Japan and therefore has a rich culture and history. Often you will see women walking around the city wearing the traditional Kimono dress. Luckily, Kyoto was spared any major bombing during WWII so Kyoto is one of the few cities in Japan with "older" building. Preserving the past hasn't stopped Kyoto from keeping up with modern times. Kyoto is also full of high rises, train stations, restaurants, malls, and arcades.

Kinkakuji Temple

Kinkakuji Temple otherwise known as "The Golden Pavillion" is only one of the 2000+ Temples and Shrines in the area of Kyoto. I guess after 11 centuries, the number of Temples can add up! Other Temples to see: Kiyomizu Temple, Ginkakuji Temple, Byodoin Temple, Kegonji Temple, and Chionin Temple.

Fountain of Youth

Before leaving Kyoto, be sure to stop by Kiyomizu Temple and take a drink from Japan's Fountain of Youth.
