We stayed only one night at Pensionat Oden Vasastan back in February 2006. Travelling as a group of 12 Germans and Swedes we occupied almost the complete hostel. :-)
Our rooms were big, clean and well equipped but did have shared showers/ toilets.
The hostel is a bit hard to find as there is only a small sign outside, next to the door and we've passed it a couple of times before we found it.
Breakfast is served at a Café close to the Pensionat.

Unique Qualities: Pretty cheap compared to average Stockholm prices.
Very nice rooms decorated in the style of the early 20th century
Metro and bus stations nearby
Close to city centre

Our main reason for booking at Colonial Hotel was the location- it's pretty much in the heart of Stockholm. But the first thing we had to experience on arrival was the pretty unfriendly staff telling us that we had to wait (for nearly half an hour) because our rooms were not ready yet, even though we did not arrive too early. Interior furnishings of the rooms are pretty obsolete and also the elevator made me rather carry my suitcase up to the 3rd floor than stepping in. Our room was really big and even included a kitchen (which was a surprise because we did not ask for one) with fridge, wash basin, microwave, cutlery and some crockery.
The breakfast wasn't very good unfortunately. They had toast and crispbread, some cereals, cheese, cold meat, concentrated juice and the worst coffee in the history of mankind! Not really the best conditions to start an eventful day of sight seeing. Also the breakfast room was too small so you might have to wait for a table to get vacant first.

Unique Qualities: The hotel offers two types of accommodation: Standard Rooms that are equipped with shower, WC, TV, CD player and radio and Budget Rooms without private facilities, with shower and WC at the corridor (extra costs for bed linen (50 SEK/ set) and towels (20 SEK) at budget rooms). Free luggage room, 24 hour reception, credit cards accepted, internet access at reception. Centrally located with easy access to the Stockholm sights. Only about 500-600 metres from the city terminal and the central station. Bars, cafés and restaurants nearby.
