"Goldner Hirsch" is a nice inn, located right at the town centre of Dinkelsbühl. It's right at Weinmarkt (wine market), next to the minster (which can be a bit annoying early Sunday morning) and is surrounded by beautiful medieval and half-timbered houses. The inn itself is a historical building as well, the owner told me it's an old merchant's house from the 16th century. Our (double) room was pretty small but clean and equipped with beautifully painted old furniture. The bed was quite short and if you're taller than 1,85 m you should ask for a room with a little less historic furnishing. : )
Breakfast was pretty basic but good and filling. There was coffee and tea, bread, cheese, cold meat, cereals and yoghurt.
Downstairs there is a bar and also a dining area where you can get some good traditional Bavarian fare. Outside there also is a small beer garden.
The owner was extraordinarily friendly and amusing. He took us into his heart the moment we arrived and kept on looking after us very attentively and was always larksome.
Unique Qualities: There is a bicycle hire at the inn and the rate is only 2 Euros per day.
You can park your car at the courtyard which is a big advantage as it's usually very hard to find a parking spot at the historical old town of Dinkelsbühl.
