Paris is a huge, beautiful city that you can't even begin to experience in a few days. (I learned that the hard way...) I spent about 2.5 days in Paris while on a school trip in June 2008. This wasn't nearly enough time.
This page is small as compared to the numerous other Paris pages (that actually have ratings... *hint hint*), but I figured that I'd include a guide nevertheless.
What to See and Do describes my favorite Paris attractions and experiences. It also includes a link to the tip(s) that pertain to the subject.
My Experience is an angry rant. Pass it up if you've never been to Paris. Paris was an amazing city; unfortunately, I had a less than thrilling experience with the people there.
The travelogue section describes the more personal aspects of my trip. It contains group photos and funny stories.

| | Favorites, by Alyssa Though I only have an extremely limited view of what to do in Paris, the few attractions that caught my eye caught many others.
Flam's Restaurant - Best food I had in Paris. I'm constantly craving their delicious flammekueche. Especially the warm apple dessert... mmmhmm!
The View from the Trocadéro - The first spot I saw the Eiffel Tower from. Absolutely breathtaking!
The Ceilings in the Louvre - The Mona Lisa isn't that exciting, especially when surrounded by tourists. Look up.
Champ de Mars - A great place to stop, relax, and enjoy the atmosphere of Paris.
The Sculptures on the Notre Dame - These sculptures tell fantastic stories from the religious past.

My Experience? Hmm... I'm not gonna lie. I would consider Paris my least favorite city in all of Europe. (All of Europe that I've seen.) I'm sure people are going to start pelting me with rocks now, but it's true. Paris, for an American tourist, is not one of the greatest places to visit. The ruining factor was the people.
Now, I know people are going to start thinking, "Well, the Parisian people aren't rude. That's an American stereotype." I do not consider myself an American. I consider myself a Pittsburghian. And I love Europe. Getting ready to leave for Paris, I dressed European and learned as much French as my English/German teachings would let me. Once I got to Paris, I found out that as long as I didn't speak, I was treated nicely. Once I spoke in my Pittsburgh accent, I got nothing but rude treatment.
That's enough of a rant for now... View more in my travelogue. | | |

| Pros: | "Beautiful design, great food, charming atmosphere." | | Cons: | "Sometimes crowded and expensive. Rude treatment for Americans." | | In A Nutshell: | "'I'd like this city more if no one was in it.'" |

Nemorino Sat Jun 20, 2009 18:35 UTC Now that your Paris page is "finished" (in quotes because I'm sure you'll come back at some later time and love the city) I've just had a look at your new tips since Sept. 26, 2008. Good work! I also use a Canon Powershot camera and it works fine. | Roadquill Thu Nov 27, 2008 19:33 UTC Most excellent rant.... I am sure my daughters (one named Alyssa) felt the same way when I first dragged them to Paris. but now they love it. Happy travels, Karl | Laurel914 Sun Aug 17, 2008 15:54 UTC It's too bad you didn't enjoy Paris. Definitely give it another try, but with more time and less structure. Your member name is really creative and funny, though! |
