Planning my trip to Beijing...on my own

My 7 Day Itinerary

I will be travelling on my own end of July 2007 and understand that time flies faster when you travel with other people, so I have prepared an itinerary full of activities since I prefer travelling solo.

FYI: no tour involved!

Day 1:

- Arrive in Beijing in the afternoon
- Train to Tiananmen Square
- Walk to Wangfujing Night Market

Day 2:

- Train to Forbidden City (open from 08:30 to 16:00 – 40 RMB)
- Walk in Qianmen Dajie (shops) towards
- Temple of Heaven in Tiantan Park (open from 08:30 to 19:00 - 15 RMB)
- Taxi to Chang’an Theatre (for traditional Chinese Opera)

Day 3:

- Great Wall at Mutianyu: Take Bus #916 leaves Dongzhimen Station (Dongzhi Gate) for Huairou (12RMB). In Huairou you can take a mini-bus (2 RMB) Huanghua. The last bus back to Huairou is around 6 pm. The bus ride (around 60 km north of Beijing) takes 2 hours. Entrance is 85RMB. Don’t forget to bring some food and plenty of water!!!
- Taxi to Back Lakes – Hou Hai
- Taxi to New Get Lucky Bar

Day 4:

- Train to Silk Market in Silk Street
- Walk to Ancient Observatory
- Train to Lao She Teahouse in Qianmen Xiadaje 3 (Tiananmen Station) to see a mix of acrobatics, face changing (highly recommended by VT!) and opera.
- Taxi to CD Café

Day 5:

- Taxi to Hutongs
- Walk to Prince Gong Mansion
- Walk to Yonghe Gong (Tibetan Temple)
- Taxi to Chaoyang Theatre to see acrobatic show (from 19:15)

Day 6:

- Summer Palace (Yiheyuan): Take taxi from Wudaokou Station (10RMB)
- Taxi to Dazhalan Jie Market
- Kung Fu at Xirong Theatre (South West) by taxi
- Taxi to New What Bar

Day 7:

- Leave some free space in case I want to do something that I have not planed.
- Flight to Thailand in the afternoon.
