Matsue is a outstanding castle town also in Japan. The Matsue castle is the only castle to which a castle tower is existing in the San-in district, and wooden "fish-shaped end tile" is the oldest in Japan.
There is the canal surroundings of this castle , the river is flowing in the canal and the samurai residences continue so that it may be surrounded. the scene with which construction of " the white walls of the samurai residences and the black wooden walls "are connected amount to 400m "
It is called "Shiominawate " that is chosen also as the 100th election in "the way in Japan".
While "Yagumo Koizumi " Lafcadio Hearn's commemoration hall and his previous home have been that time, it is saved next to the samurai residences.
This town is very quiet and have the deep atmosphere.

The Sun-Set in Shinji-lake

The Shinji lakeside is nationally famous for the beauty of the setting sun.
This is the photograph taken from the prefectural art museum side.
The circumference of this lake is about 45km, and since the "brackish water lake" where sea water and fresh water were mixed, the "Shinji lake" is abundant in fish and shellfishes.
This lake with such beautiful seen ( Sun Set ) that it is thrilled is a symbol of "capital of water" Matsue.

" Iwayaato " ancient tomb

Many myths remain in the San-in district in Japan.
" San-in " is called gods' hometown.
On these mythes based, Matsue is also dotted with much ancient tombs, ruins and old shrines.
This is " Iwayaato " ancient tomb that was built in the second half of the 6th century. It is shown that the person's to be buried influence while in life was grand.
Although an ancient tomb and ruins are famous for "Nara" in Japan, a lot of them are existing in this district.
