The first time I went to Zurich was in 1995, and the moment I stepped in the old part of the city I fell in love with it. I've been back many times since and everytime I get there I feel like I have returned to a place that somehow reaches my heart. It's very difficult to explain why, especially to people who say that it's too commercial and staid. There are many other places that are more beautiful, or more lively, or more historic, but for me Zurich is very special. I've seen it in spring, autumn and winter and it's different each time yet familiar and comfortable like an old friend. The old town centre has a timeless ambience, the people are lovely, many speak English and are happy to help. Zurich feels safe, easy to walk around in and has some wonderfully scenic drives nearby. |
