"Just Lovely - Sugar Pie" Charleston by BruceDunning
Charleston Travel Guide: 776 reviews and 1,700 photos
This town is one of those most preserved to keep the heritage as much as possible. It seemed to work, and there are a lot of houses that still have that 1800's grand era feel. Times were good then and cotton was a king until the Civil War. Take tours of the houses where available; the insides are well done.
- Pros:WEll preserved city that has spectacular Battery Row
- Cons:Could get too many tourists-4 million-most in summer
- In a nutshell:Love the era of that splendor and quiet wealth of the south
