Lovely rolling sands

Really are white
There is 275 miles of desert in the Tulsrosa Basin, as it is called. It was caused by gypsum sands being created and drifting.
The visitor center is 8 miles into the dunes, and there are 4 main trails one can take to hike. Located 50 miles northeast of Las Cruses, or past Alamogordo from the north and Carlsbad on Hwy 82.

Pros:"Solitude is the theme here"
Cons:"When you see the sand, then what does a tourist do?"
In A Nutshell:"A bit to get to here, and you need to like desolation"
