A Beautiful Mountain Relaxer

Drive by slowly

Round facade for the lookout
There is a great deal of depth in this town and locals have quietly kept this a secret for decades. In late 1960's that began changing and tourism carries the revenue base now.
Typical clapboard home

Home tours are good

You can get tours of the town, or take your own. There are a lot of antibellum type homes and early 20th century beauty. Antiques are the vogue here, but how many new old pieces can you find?
Map of the area
All of the area around Asheville is beautiful landscape. The city is the anchor to venture out into other outlying mountain retreats. In winter, it can be icy up here, so beware. Summers are very temperant.

Pros:"Lovely and quiet area that holds a lot of charm"
Cons:"Cold and icy in winter-tourists are catching on to come"
In A Nutshell:"It is a town that needs to be slowly taken in"
