Town Maps

I always like a map for guidance of what is located where, and the distances before I go to a place. These hopefully would help you in finding the sites and the distance between them.

Wax Museum

If you run out of other things to do/see, you can walk into the Potter's Wax Museum, and decide if you recognize anyone familiar that waxed; besides yourself. I mean that in that the place is not all that big, and the price is $10 to enter.

Cathedral of the town Cathedral/Basilica of St. Augustine Review

The Cathedral and basilica are great to view and the history is equally fascinating. The history is that a Catholic church was built in 1586 and burned the next year by Englishman Sir Francis Drake. Another was built, and it also was burned in 1702 when the CArolina Governor James Moore attacked. With the migration of Catholics to the area for service and expert construction work, CAtholicism again made a rise, and a church was built in 1793. This is that church

Ad for a ghost tour - Saint Augustine

Ad for a ghost tour

Ghosts are in YOur Mind Ghost tour Review

If there is one of these, there are at least 6 more around town. I am not sure what the draw is to be compelled to take a ghost tour, but they sure promote the theme. There is a lot of competition and the tours can be walking, riding, or even boating. Claims of many sighting of ghosts in the town is rampant. Only you can tell if it is true, but it costs you to find out. Most tours are $14-15, and most take maybe 1 hour; while others may be 1 1/2 hours for $25; so look real hard.

Pirate Museum

This is one that was recommended for its artifacts and displays of the days of pirates when they reigned in the 1700-1800's. It has a replica of a ship galley, tavern, redone street of Jamaica, and some artifacts found.
The museum we did not go into because it seemed steep in price at $11, and open 9-8 daily

Oldest school house in US from 1811

Historic Old Town area Historic District Review

The nicest part of the visit is to walk along St. George ST and take in the buildings. If not for the retail shops now occupying the buildings, and the tourists milling around, it would be like back in time to enjoy that life of old.

Tram by the fort pick up - Saint Augustine

Tram by the fort pick up

Ride for Pleasure & Leisure Tourist Tram Review

This is the "in thing" for those who do not want to walk, or cannot walk. The trams/trains run around the perimeter and inside the main streets and usually makes 20-22 stops. The rides go between 3 and 7 miles, depending on what ride you take. Ripley's offer 7 miles ride that takes 90 minutes around, and that price is around $22. On/off is allowed. The tram at Castillo Dr. is $23 and it also has on/off stops. Seems like a bit of a rip to me since you can walk those 2 miles if you really want to stay in shape.

Ripley's Believe It is Here Too Ripley's Believe It or Not!! Review

There are more than one Ripley's, and where there is a flock of tourists, there is a Ripley's. We did not go inside in order to not spend the money. It has a ferris wheel, carnival caricature figures, rubber heads of people, and the like.
Fee is $15, or $12.26(how do you get that rounded?)
