"Galway City- My favourite Irish city...so far" Galway by slothtraveller
Galway Travel Guide: 509 reviews and 926 photos
I spent four nights in Galway on the second leg of my trip to Ireland following a short stay in Dublin. I would highly recommend making Dublin and Galway your bases for visiting Ireland as they are both so different.
Upon exploring Galway, the word that springs to mind is 'alive'. The streets hum with the sound of trad music, the bustle of shoppers and pub-goers and the hubbub of various other street performers such as fire-eaters and jugglers. The mixture of students, tourists and locals make this city a fun and interesting place to be.
IS IT WORTH A RETURN VISIT?
Yes, if I ever need a de-stressing, Galway is a perfect antidote. :)
- Pros:Too many to list but primarily the fun ambience and wealth of places to eat, drink and be merry
- Cons:Lots of free flowing alcohol results in lots of drunk people and the minority of idiots who take drinking too far
- In a nutshell:You will want to go back again and again

Hi Steve, nice page about Galway! The town really looks like a good place to visit.
I especially like the tips about Healy Tours! My mom and I plan to visit Ireland next year.
Thanks for stopping by my Heidelberg page. Let me know if you have any questions...My youngest daughter gave me a freakin heart attack at the cliffs of Moher by sticking her toes over the edge. Karl
Lovely, I would love to visit Ireland, have some Irish roots.
Excellent page on this beautiful part of Ireland! Hope to see it someday. Thanks for the tip on taking the earlier tour - it may come in handy. Great pictures, too.
Loved galway! Do not even remember if I wrote any tips about it, but my claddaugh ring is from the claddaugh store in Galway.
Galway and surroundings is high on my list of places to visit! Excellent tips Steve!
