BBQ with Nan & Fump Fump

Bob, Daddy, Chris, Alex and Richard
My Friends Nan & Alex live on Long Beach. I considered Nan and Alex (Fump Fump we call him) to be like second parents to me. We all met on a vacation with my Mother and we bonded instantly. We decided to do a BBQ reunion of the people from the trip we are close with (Bob & Barbara and Richard & Vivian). My Mother and Father actually came with my Mom still recouperating from cancer surgery. It was a fun day filled with laughter, good food, great friends and happy memories.

From Indians to the Riviera.......

I never knew the history of Long Beach until we went to Nan & Alex's house. Alex seems to have a small "collection" of books on Long Beach. Some of them gave these intersting facts. The first settlers of Long Beach were the Rockaway Indians who later sold the land to colonists in 1643. The area was predominately fishermen and farmers. In 1906, William Reynolds a senator and real estate developer started to acquire property and begin construction of the Long Beach Boardwalk, homes and hotels. The new town was built in a Mediterranean style to ensure the "Riviera "look. The town attracted new wealthy residents. Now Long Beach is a melting pot of both working middle class and upper middle class residents. The town is very culturally diverse and very friendly.

Darling is Darling

Darling is the Pomeranian of Nan & Alex. SHe was originally the dog of their daughter Susie (my evil twin sister...lol) but now she's theirs. Darling is very cute...like a fuzzy football. She's a little barky and runs around in circles. She was very friendly and doesn't bite. She became fast friends with my Dad and spent some time on his lap during the BBQ.
Darling the Pomeranian keeps watch.....
