Budapest is a Cheese | The Beautiful Chain Bridge |
Istvan told us that Budapest is a "Cheese". With all the underground caves and labrynths you can see why that description is quite accurate. It is also known as The Pearl of the Danube, which is also a very fitting description for this lovely city. Give in to the Lovely Magar spell and fall in love with Budapest...I did.
Budapest has been destroyed by many invaders and wars(Mongols, Turks, Austrians,Solviets) during history but always gets rebuilt. It's a shame to know that some things are lost forever and will not be rebuilt, but Budapest is a city of rebirth and renewal. There are many renovations and reconstruction planned but it all takes money and time. It's good to know that through it all the Hungarians will continue to make their city beautiful and keep their history alive. |
| | Celebrating Chris's 35th Birthday Budapest was Chris's choice destination for celebrating his 35th birthday. He didn't get to open his birthday gift in Budapest, I gave it to him early: A pair of cuff links that were made from the Old Yankee Stadium Seats from 1973. He was absolutely thrilled since he's such a Yankee fan.
Whenever we travel together it's a wonderful time but being here with my baby for his Birthday was incredible. A new city for Chris is rare so it was very special to have a "First Time in Budapest" together. |
Istvan-The World's best Tour Guide 1courage is the best tour you could ask for when visiting Budapest. He is extremely knowledgeable and knows everything about his city. It was great to get the "local" point of view of places, people and culture. He doesn't like his picture posted so I promised I wouldn't post the one I took. He is a handsome guy and should show off that fabulous face!
Istvan volunteered to take us on a tour of his lovely city. We met at our hotel at 12pm and were out well past 9pm that night. He was a gracious guide and we had so much fun with him. He did almost kill us by hiking up to the Citadel, the stairs were fine but we did go off road climbing up the dirt hill and hanging on to trees. It is now known as the "Citadel Experiment". We survived that experience and had a fabulous day with Istvan. | | | After the Citadel Experiment(photo by 1 courage) |
