The Australian Museum is the oldest museum in Australia. It was founded in 1827 by Earl Bathurst. The museum focuses on natural history and anthropology. There is a hall of bones with vertebrate and invertibrate zoology as well as mineralogy. There were some sections closed for renovations. So we only saw the aboce exhibits. Since I am a "Earth Science Geek", I loved the minerals and rocks in the exhibit and could have spent a day just gazing at them. The skeletons were humorously arranged. One was of a mans skeleton riding a horse skeleton and it was titled "The Bone Ranger". The Aussies definitely have a great sense of humour to do that!! We were quite happy with the museum and the building was quite beautiful. Check out the gift shop for some fun koala ears for you or the kids.

We went to Bondi( by public transport) on one of the warmest days of our trip it reached 95 degrees, yet it was very windy. The beach was very clean and not crowded. The surf was a liitle ruff but it was great to take a dip in the Pacific. I was warned about jellyfish but never saw one thankfully. We got back on the bus after the beach and found ourselves in Watsons Bay.

St. Mary's is the seat of the Archbishop of Sydney (Roamn Catholic Church). It's dedicated to St. Mary, Help of Christians". It s the largest church in Australia. The Gothic building is quite impressive and gives a certain air of dominance over Hyde park. The original foundation was laid on October 29m 1821 by Governor Macquarie. A series of fires destroyed the old churches and the current St. Mary's foundation was 1868. Currently renovations are going on in preparation of World Youth Day 2008 which will be in Sydney. It is a Roman Catholic Youth Rally where children from all over the world attend to hear the Pope's vision of youth in the world.

Located between the Buisness District, the Rocks, the Opera House and the Botanic Gardens, this is the main transport hub to catch a ferry, train, bus or taxi. You can reach Parramatta, Sydney Olympic park, Darling Harbour, Taronga Zoo, Watson's Bay, Manly and Rose bay from this point. Many Harbour cruises are also available from here. It's also the home of the Sydney Opera House, Museum of Contempory Art, The Sydney Library, Customs house and some great bars and restaurants.

Darling Harbour is packed full of activities for everyone: Sydney’s Entertainment Centre, Paddy’s Market, Chinese Gardens, Tumbalong Park, Sydney Convention Centre, Maritime Museum, Star City Casino, Powerhouse Museum, Sydney Aquarium, IMAX Theatre, Wildlife World, Aboriginal Centre, and many restaurants and shops. We also spent a lot of time here enjoying the wonderful ice cream at the Lindt Chocolate Café. Don’t miss darling Harbour, it is a must see.

The bridge is the main crossing of Sydney HArbour. You can drive, Ride a train or walk across it. We were driven across it by Aussiedoug. It is a magnificent looking bridge both from above and below. All four pylons of the bridge are used as a museum and tourist center with great lookout points. You can also go on a bridge climb. I would never do this because I am afraid of heights and the price is just as steep about $200 (American dollars) a person.

Go to the "Cross" to see the famous Coca Cola sign. Apparently locals just say, "Meet me at the Coke sign" and you just know to go to Kings Cross. Kings Cross is sort of a red light district crossed with Times Square circa 1985. Lots of strip bars, sex shops etc. I don't mind this so I had no problem with the area.

I was told that Luna Park is the Coney Island of Sydney so therefore I avoided it like the plague. Screaming kids when I'm on vacatin is never a good thing... If you don't mind the little darlings and want some amusement rides go to Luna Park.

Definitley visit The Rocks. The visitor center is infomative and has great brochures and souveniers. There are many pubs, restaurants and shops to keep any tourist happy. It is so easy to just go have a beer and the pub and blend in and talk to locals and other tourists about their day. It is a very relaxed atmosphere. On the weekend there is The Rocks Market. You can find anything there from honey, soap, jewelry and christmas ornaments. If you want something you can find it at this market. We spend almost every day in The Rocks; whether it was having a beer at the Orient Hotel, creme brulee at the patisserie, pancakes on the rocks or just strolling around looking in shops. I found a beautiful freshwater pearl and silver necklace for a reasonable price. It really is a place for you to find everything you want and somethings you didn't know you wanted.
