Nassau has a wonderful tropical climate and natural beauty. The water is simply gorgeous. Take a water Taxi and your guide will tell you some history and fun facts about the island.
Nassau has also been a popular location for numerous James Bond books and film. The films Thunderball, Never Say never Again and the 2006 Casino Royale were filmed in Nassau.
King Edward VIII gave up his throne to marry "the woman he Loved", a divorced commoner. The couple known as the Duke & Duchess of Windsor settled in Nassau and helped to attract the glamourous set to the island. |
| | A Pirates Life for Me...... The protected shelter of the harbor has been the home of pirates, freed slaves, rum smugglers, blockade runners and dissenters over the centuries. The famous pirate Blackbeard had once declared himself Magistrate of Nassau. Some other famous pirates of Nassau were: Calico Jack Rackham, Anne Bonney and Mary Read.
England sent Governor Woodes Rogers to Nassau in 1718 armed with three warships and that was the end of the reign of piracy.
The times are peaceful now in the Bahamas but they honor their past and enjoy the present. |
Nassau with Chris It was our first time to Nassau. It was great to be on the deck of the ship and watch the island come into view. Passing the lighthouse and seeing Atlantis soaring high into the air was a beautiful sight. I was so excited as we pulled into port. Getting off the ship and wandering into town was the begining of our fun island adventure. Nassau is very laid back and carefree.
We had a wonderful day together exploring Nassau and enjoying life. It was a great day and we made wonderful memories. | | | My blue eyed honey in in cute blue shirt.... |

The second day was better in my eyes but the first was great. And what a cheap lesson on not wanting to vacation in Atlantis. |
