I bet there are hundreds and hundreds of Rome pages on Virtual Tourist. Well, I don't bet, I know, because before I went there, I saw hundreds of them! Each new foto, each new tip made me even more anxious to go there and see everything with my own eyes.

And so, when I arrived, I thought I knew all there was to see and do, and that there would be no real surprises.

Indeed, no surprises. It was all there: the Colosseo, Fontana di Trevi, Piazza di Spagna, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon. But I will never forget what I felt when I first saw each one of them live, after so many weeks of planning and internet travelling.

And that's the magic of Rome: you may have seen it in pictures, films, hundreds of times. But it still remains magic and it will make you fall in love with it always.

Well, maybe I have an extra reason to love Rome so much... It's the birthplace of the person I'll spend my life with ;-)

The other advantage of that (God it sounds bad ehehe but so true) is that I get to see Rome by locals' eyes; I go to places I surely wouldn't go if I was just a 'simple tourist'. Plus, I make a lot of roman friends and I get to see how's living in this city and I always discover new interesting things about it. For example, which tourist has already had the opportunity of watching a Roma-Inter in a house full of 'romanisti' eating 'pizza al taglio'? (well, those who don't like football maybe don't see anything special about it, but I guarantee you that it's unforgetable!)

It's one of those simple things that make such good memories of this city for me :-)

And another reason... FOOD!!

Well, I could name ten thousand reasons to love Rome, it's without a doubt a special city.

Mine is just another page on this wonderful city, and surely I won't write about anything that other hundreds of people before me haven't written about, but I just had to have my own Rome page :-) Which I hope I'll always be updating as I plan to return a lot of times!
