| Beautiful old fisherman houses - nice architecture |
Oevelgonne is a small fishermen's village a few kilometers away from Hamburg. Until 1890, it was a small municipality in itself, while after that it continued to be a part of Altona until 1938. Since then, it has been regarded as a part of Hamburg. This small township stands on the bank of river Elbe with a beautiful stretching sandy beach that presents a great beauty to it. |

| | In Oevelgoenne, one finds numerous old houses, beautifully architectured, some of which are as old as a century or even more. Formerly, these houses were said to be inhabited mainly by the ships crew and the Captains and some fishermen. Today, none of them exists, but the beautiful houses that they inhabited still stand in full glory. The houses are very colourful with flowers and bushes. |
In many of these houses, there are small exhibition or sale of old books, jams, shipping accesories, artifacts, etc. which are visible to the visitors even from the narrow roads in front of the houses. Many of these houses have also been made into restaurants. In sum, its a total delight for any visitor to the area and those visiting Hamburg should not miss a chance to see this old village. | | | Paritosh & Urja walking down the beautiful lane |
