"My Tour Around the Island" Province of Negros Occidental by tintintin

Holy Thursday Trip

I was practically inside a box that time & wanted out, so I hailed a bus at around 7AM along the highway near the Bacolod City Airport, and decided to stop at Hinigaran to drop something for a friend. From his place, I hailed a motorcab, the kind of single motorcycle which can carry 6-10 persons plus the driver, back to the town center. From there, I hailed another bus along the highway for Kabankalan City. Kabankalan is where my aunt is, but it is practically a boring place to spend the Holy Week. So I hopped in the bus again and traveled to Dumaguete City. I was just sitting and sleeping inside the bus for 3 hours. There were few people traveling because it was Holy Thursday, so I have the whole length of the seat for myself. At times, I was enjoying the scenery, at times, it's just same sugar cane fields or rice paddies along the way. At 4PM, I arrived at Dumaguete City.

Holy Thursday in Dumaguete

Not hungry, but experiencing the hypoglycemic signs, I entered Jollibee. Jollibee is the safest place to eat here if you are not apt for food trip. Since it was holy week, a meal of fish & chips with a glass of dalandan juice is enough to fight back the increasing insulin. Dumaguete is a small city, with Silliman University at the center. There are few taxis here, so you either hail a motorcab or walk, walk walk to your destination. I enjoyed walking along the boulevard. It's quite safe, probably because it's a holy day. I decided, if I can't find a good place to stay here, I can just sit inside the church and spend the night here. This day, hundreds of Catholics are visiting the churches as a "panata" to their faith. It's called "bisita-iglesia". So the churches are crowded with faithfuls praying, going to confession, praying. I walked towards the lodging house the friendly motorcab driver suggested to me earlier. It's practically a boarding house for drug agents who are in the city for business, but who are back home at this time of the year.
