Getting TO/AROUND: There is no info easily available about taking the bus from Venice to Abano (linea Montegrotto-Marco Polo). The bus starts at Marco Polo airport goes to Tessera airport and then to Piazzale Roma in Venice, then it sets off for Abano via Padua. I emailed around a lot and looked at websites. I was unable to make the SITA website work for me. SITA is the company that runs the Airport Abano bus. The Mobility Manager for the province of Venice sent me helpful information and a link to a PDF file that I could print out showing the timetable which also includes a pricing if your suitcase is bigger than the company likes and they want you to pay a surcharge. I emailed the Mobility Manager in Italian.
He wrote: 1. The bus costs 3.95 euros if you buy the ticket on the ground, 5 euros if you buy it on the bus. 2. At Marco Polo airport you come out of baggage reclaim on the left behind the newspaper stand where there should be a desk for buying the bus ticket. 3. The bus stops are clearly indicated by boards as soon as soon you get out of the building. 4. You can get a bus to Padova (Padua) and then wait in Padova (Piazzale Boschetti) for a connecting bus service to Abano. Both these services are more frequent than the Venice Abano bus.
