Mt. Gorrila Safari!

Nowhere I said nowhere is better gorilla viewing like in Virunga volcanoes of Rwanda. Rwanda, the greenest land I have ever seen, is a totally landlocked country bordered by Uganda and Burundi in the North and South respectively while Tanzania and Zaire a borders it in east and west respectively. Virunga Volcanoes have magnificent mountains which are one last refuges for Gorrillas. Its believed that there are only 380 Gorrilas left in planet earth, 280 of them live in Rwanda , Mt. Gorrila

Our cousins or what.....

Gorrilas are known to be very aggressive animals but when you really come to study and understand them, you will realize that they are very socialable animals, and they only attack if they are provoked or feel threatened. Gorrilas are more likened to human beings considering by the way they live. They live in groups of 3-30 , and have restricted place or areas for fetching food. Normally they are active daytime only and spend nights in their nests which are built in trees for females and young ones then male build their nest on the ground, of course to protect his family!

signs of the Troop.....

You know you are near the troop by the smell that waft by stray of breeze, its gets stronger and stronger meaning you are getting near and near to them. You may notice the damaged bamboo trees and apparent Big footprints, you may also hear sounds of loud crashes or dull reverberating growls of contement….with your camera ready, get set to catch the action!

The troop consists usually of a dominant male and up to five or more females and their young. it is basically a stable family with the young only leaving after they reach sexual maturity . Females join another group while young males remain solitary until they have an opportunity of forming their own troop.
