Antwerp, from a different point of view

A while ago I joined a guided tour through the harbour of Antwerp. It was a tour along the different docks and parts of the harbour. We passed by places where ships, coming from Asia unloaded new cars and where second hand cars were shipped (if your car is stolen you have a very big chance to find it here ).
It was not only a trip along the harbour and the industrial installations.
It was also a voyage of discovery to see the remains of the polder villages. Back in the 50's and 60's when the harbour expanded, these villages were doomed to disappear. A few remains are left, like the church tower of Wilmersdonck, completely surrounded by containers.

Another "off the beaten path" of Antwerp is the SFINKS Festival in Boechout. I've put info about this one under the cultural tips & a travelogue about the Sfinks.


Later on I will complete this page with more items of Antwerp. It is a town I visit quite often.
