Blues and Rock & Roll - Singapore
Crazy Elephant: Blues and Rock & Roll Boat Quay & Clarke Quay Review

The Crazy Elephant is a small but lively bar at Clarke Quay. I think they have daily live performances every night from 10pm onwards and when I went there they had a very good band of Australians and Philippino's playing blues and rock & roll.

Somewhat older crowd (40+) and a lot of British expats. Service is good and they have decent collection of beers. Be prepared to pay Western prices as with the other establishments at Clarke Quay.

The best view of the country - Singapore
Equinox: The best view of the country

Located on the top floors (77th and 78th if I remember correctly) of the Raffles the Stamford hotel the Equinox complex offers a pristine view of Singapore.

The lower of the two floors (pictured) is a lounge with a pianist and singer on the weekend. It is a gorgeous lounge with very comfortable plush chairs. The main draw about this lounge is that about 1/3 of its side is floor to ceiling glass so you get a fantastic view of the island.

On the upper floor you will find a dance floor filled with young people dancing to the top 40 music.

Full bar with good selection of whisky and wine; I make sure I visit the equinox on each trip I take to Singapore.

Address: 2 Stamford Rd

Directions: Closest MRT is City Hall

Martini and Jazz on the river - Singapore
Bar Opiume: Martini and Jazz on the river

Bar Opiume is located at the Indochine Waterfront restaurant next to the Asian Civilization Museum.

One of my top three favourite nightlife spots in Singapore; come here on Friday/Saturday evening, grab one of the leather sofa's outside, order a martini and sip it slowly while listening to the songs of Nat King Cole and Tony Bennett sung live.

I love to sit outside as it is right at the Singapore river in front of the Central Business District, and I could swear the reflections of the lights on the skyscrapers behind me sway to Nat King Cole's L-O-V-E ... but then again it could be the martini's :)

Micro brewery by the river - Singapore
Brewerkz: Micro brewery by the river Boat Quay & Clarke Quay Review

Located at Clarke Quay, Brewerkz is a microbrewery, sports bar & restaurant. I have never actually eaten here so I will only talk about the beer and the atmosphere :)

It is a good looking sports bar, with pool table, multiple TV's and dartboards. The main attraction though is definitely the micro brewed beers. They are all of good quality, but the IPA stands out as very enjoyable while you might want to stay away from the coffee flavoured beer *shudders*

If you like English football this is a good place to hang out and watch a game on Saturday night. As with other establishments at Clarke Quay expect to pay Western prices.

Jazz by the river - Singapore
Harry's: Jazz by the river

Located by the river at Boat Quay the original Harry's bar is my favourite place to down a pint while listening to Jazz.

I enjoyed coming here in the weekend when they have live vocalists from the US or Australia. The atmosphere is very cozy, friendly and not pretentious.

The place is rather small (maybe 100 people capacity) so don't come here if you want to have a serious discussion, as the music is pretty loud inside the small space.

Dress Code: The dress code is casual, it is after all a tropical country :)
