I lived in Bangkok for 15 months, and I had fun in every minute of it.
Of all my travels and the all the people I've met, on average there isn't any society more peaceful, gracious and polite than the Thai. This is where money matters less than harmony and simply being a good person.
As a travel destination it is one of those places that is expensive to get to (from Europe or the US) but once you get here everything is cheap. Needless to state the weather is hot like the food, the city is vibrant and bustling, traffic is horrendous (although there are ways around it) and the city is very safe.
Also, one thing that surprised me when I got there is how good the infrastructure is. Here you don't need to worry about not having running water, public transport is efficient, and whatever new technology you have in the West is present. |
