I first met Matera watching the movie of Mel Gibson, "la passion du christ". I heard about this small place lost in Basilicata. So, during a stay in Napoli, i decided to visit. This place is an unbelieveable town built in troglodyte caves, hidden between the rocks. Some are churches with paintings inside you won't believe to find in such a place. Matera is unknown by most people who travels in Italy while it's a place out of time and space. When you come in the old time, you come in past time. Moerover it's really peacefully because hard to reach in a way but visiting matera you won't be disapointed.
