On September 4, 1781, a group of Spansih settlers traveling from New Spain (Mexico) founded a pueblo along a healthy river and named it for "Our Lady, Queen of Angels," and thus, Los Angeles was born.
Known for its endless sandy beaches, delightful weather and cultural diversity, the city of Los Angeles is the nation's largest melting pot and one of the world's most beautiful and exciting places to live.
I moved here, and instantly fall in love with the place for its incredible beauty, ocean, palm trees, very friendly people, food, and absolutely fantastic weather. America has a little and more something for everyone. You just have to know where to find it. |
| | PEOPLE Los Angeles is a very diverse city with nearly half of its population being born outside the United States. The city is a very immigrant friendly , with many ethnic inclaves such as Chinatown, Filipinotown, Little Tokyo, Little Armenia, Little Saigon, Thai Town, Little Persia, and Little India. Hence, each ethnic group contributes into lifestyle... in sense of culture, dining experience, art, and traditions.
Another thing I noticed... everyone is smiling to you. which is soooooo wonderful. A college professor told me once, that this smiling tradition started when lots of immigrants moved to the US from different parts of the world. And since, neighbors might be all speaking different languages, all they could do is smiling to each other in the beginning. That is how it started... anyway, I think it is so wonderful that it stays this way. |
| | FITNESS IS A LIFESTYLE Want to stay in shape during your visit to LA? Thi city offers more options than perhaps anywhere in the world. Yoga? Yes. Pilates? Yes. Great gyms? Yes. Spinning? Yes. Tai Chi? Yes. If it exists as an exercise then yes. Most gyms offer more mainstream versions of some or all of the above - or most types of Yoga studios can easily be found.
Also, it is absolutely fun to get on a bike and take a ride along one of the numerious beaches for the entire day... and dine in between... there are many many options... of fresh seafood or... practically anything you fancy. |
