"Alarcon - not to be missed." Alarcón by kht1468

Its a little off the beaten track but if passing you must see Alarcon - its just an amazing view as you come about 1km off the main N111 road from Honrubia thru to Motilla. You come to the brow of a slight rise on the road and the village is set on top of a hill in a gorge.

We found it only because I read about it in the Rough guide, and we detoured our bike tour to pass it by. Hubby was only too happy touring with the Harley on the roads around here as they are superb biking roads, very like the USA.

We stopped for a lunch break here... in a small hotel at the end of the village near the castle, menu of the day 12€ - good food and very bsy despite the village being empty - I think they were all in the restaurant! Very little else to do. Good for people who like to escape from it all, not for the nightlife lover at all.
