TIRANA is the capital of Albania and enjoys a beautiful setting between the ranges of Dajti mountain from one side and the coastal plains on the other one. Tirana become the temporary capital on 8 February appointed by the Congress of Lushnja and finally took this status on December 31, 1925. The center of Tirana is projected by well-known Italian architects of Mussolini period, Florestano de Fausto and Armando Brasini. The International Cultural Center, the ex- museum “Enver Hoxha“ was inaugurated in 1988, “The Pyramid“ In 1990 Tirana had 250.000 inhabitants. Actually, the massive overrun of inhabitants from all the other parts of the country in the capital has increased the population of Tirana to over 700.000 inhabitants. In 2000 the center of Tirana, from the Central University Corpus and up to the “Skanderbeg“ square was declared as Cultural Assemble with particular values under the state ‘s protection, that same year in this area began a restoring process named “Return to Identity.” Don’t forget to have a look at several Tirana museums, artistic and scientific institutions, including National Historical Museum, Archaeological Museum, the Museum of Nature Sciences, Opera and Balet Theatre, Drama and Variety Show, the Gallery of Fine Arts, the International Center of Culture, The Palace of Congress and Exhibition Halls. |
"RINIA" PARK IN TIRANA There are numerous places to hang out but the main area is Blloku. There are plenty of pubs and places to hang arround. If you walk from downtown, pass Shallvaret, pass the small bridge and enter the main street. If you take te first right you can find a couple of places that have live music, usually around 10 or so. If you take the 3rd street there is Buddha Bar and others. Basically walk around and find something you like. Also in Blloku there is New Irish, Cannon and Alexandro Wine House. Beside Blloku, there is Alma de Cuba near "Ekspozita Sot" or the old "Mumja". |
NATIONAL MUSEUM IN TIRANA The National Historic Museum was built in 1981 and the ornament on its frontal part is called “Albania“. The largest city of Albania. It is the administrative, cultural, economic, and industrial center of the Republic of Albania. |
