Charming Little Mountain Town

Courtyard of the castle

Good centre for visiting the castles

Fussen is definitley worth a visit. We chose Fussen as a centre for visiting the castles Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau. You can also stay in the town of Hohenschwangau, but there's not much there other than hotels, restaurants, gift shops and of course, the castles.
Fussen is small enough that you can see it in about a day. It has it's own castle, a nature park, an internet cafe, lots of shops and restaurants.
The train station is pretty much in downtown, so it's easy to walk everywhere, you probably won't need to take a taxi.
