Roma

Colleseum Rome
I went years ago!!! Luckily, I have a couple of e mails that I sent to friends...I will be posting extracts on the site. Roma is the place to be. It is an awesome placefull of history, fashion and energy!!

Roma!! Extracts from my e mail of 18/11/2002

I grabbed a bite at the Pisa Central and the train took me to Roma Termini in under four hours. It was early Sunday evening and Roma was thriving and bustling while I was getting a tremendous buzz and burst of energy.
Found a hotel and moved down to Piaaza spagna. A place renowned for designer names as Armani, Gucci, Versace, D & G. I guess i was a bit late and the party was over. But hey, I was adament to carry on with my little tour. I carried on following the road and ended up at the famous treve fountain. My word! it was a spectacle. After a quick tour I made my way back to the hotel and this unforgettable day drew to a close.
Got up at around 9 and was in down town sipping a cappucino at around 10. Being a huge Gladiator (the movie) fan the colloseum was topping my bill. There was a huge grin and relief on my face as I walked out of the Colloseo Metro station. It took me half an hour to get in with the guide and I was jumping up and down. It is nothing like what we saw in the movie, at least not from the inside. More of a distorted shape. But it still is a magnificant sight and a huge source of inspiration.
Nearby is Platini which is full of gardens and statues. After that I moved to the Vatican City. What a sight. It is just too good. As I walked in I was shell shocked. Immaculate and impeccable architecture. I have not seen anything in my whole life and this was getting better. Another climb of 300 steps and I was at the top of the Dome and this was probably the best way to get a view of Rome from the top. This was Roma in it's full grandeur and Roma. It was sunny and bright. A glorious day.
I thought that i must catch a film by this time time as I whisked to Warner bros cinema only to be disappointed. AS the trend is in Italy all films are dubbed in local language with only a few exceptions. After exhaustive enquiries I went in search for another one which was supposedly showing all movies in original language. This turned out to be a nightmare. The cinema had completely shut down. I thought enough of the leg work so I so I went back to the centre for a meal at an Indian Restaurant. Not the standard I was expecting but thereagain, I was not in England.
